Question Bank: Sharing Options

There are different ways to give other people access to personal question items in the question bank. You can also decide in each case whether the people are only allowed to view the questions or also change them.

a) Make single persons co-owners of a question

If the selected person becomes (co-)owner of the question, the question also appears under "My questions" for this person. Similar to OpenOlat learning resources, co-owners have all permissions for this question.

Go to the area My question bank > My questions, select the desired questions and use the "Author rights" button to select the persons you want to make co-owners of the question.

b) Sharing with a pool

Questions can be shared with other people by adding them to one or more existing pools. Which pools are available and can be selected is defined by the question bank managers. Usually at least one public pool exists.

Go to the area My question bank > My questions, select the desired questions and select the desired pool via Share > Share with pool. You then decide whether or not the question may also be edited in the shared pool.

c) Sharing with a group

You can also make questions accessible to an OpenOlat group created in advance. For example, create a group if you want to work with several people on a collection of questions for an online test or develop a common question base. The advantage of this way is that you can put the people together individually and add more people to the group later on.

Go to the area My question bank > My questions, select the desired questions and select the desired group via Share > Share with group. You then decide whether or not the question may also be edited in the group.

Shared questions are only referenced, not copied. All authorized persons therefore change the same question. If you want to keep the original question, copy it first.

The review process and the status of a question are also suited to the joint work on questions.
