The course element Group Task works largely the same way as the course element "Task". Please refer to that section for details.
Here is some important information specific to the course module Group Assignment:
Tab Workflow
When creating the group assignment, one or more groups must be selected in the "Workflow" tab to which the assignment will be assigned. Only these groups can then view and edit the assignment. As long as no group has been assigned, the course element is not visible when the editor is closed.

In the group task, the coaching assignment configuration is omitted because this assignment is automatically determined by the coaching assignment of the group.
When changes are made to the workflow, e.g., removing the task, this component of the workflow is removed for all groups in the course. The information about tasks that have already been selected will then no longer be visible. However, if the component is reinserted into the workflow, this information will be accessible again. However, if, for example, the task is added later and a group has already progressed further in its workflow, no task needs to be selected retrospectively.
Subsequent changes to the workflow affect all groups, even if they have already started the workflow.
Tab Task
For group assignments, only one topic may be selected per group. Once a group member has selected a topic, that topic is fixed for the entire group. It does not matter which member of the group makes the selection.
Tab Submission
If email confirmation is enabled, all group members will receive an email confirmation regardless of who created, uploaded, or submitted the files.
Tab Assessment
Points and feedback are generated for the entire group, but can be customized individually.
When the editor is closed, the assigned groups are displayed in the "Participants" tab, where they can be selected and evaluated. As part of the evaluation process, you can decide whether the assessment applies to the entire group or only to a specific group member.
Reminders & To-dos tab
There are no to-dos for group tasks, even if the option can be activated and initially gives a different impression.
Group task user perspective
All decisions and submissions made during the workflow always apply to the entire group. It is therefore important to coordinate within the group before making a final submission. At the same time, care should be taken not to miss any deadlines.
