Responsibilities
This chapter describes how login and registration work in OpenOlat. The organisation through which you use OpenOlat sets up the access. This is why the login page does not look the same everywhere.
This organisation determines the concrete way to your account: your school, university, company, public administration or training provider. As long as you cannot get in, only this body can set up an account for you, unblock it or change your e-mail address. It also answers the questions about your access. This manual describes how OpenOlat works. frentix develops OpenOlat and does not answer questions about individual accounts.
To use OpenOlat to its full extent, you must be registered in OpenOlat. Without an account you can only use OpenOlat as a guest with very limited possibilities, and even that only if your organisation offers the guest access.
Each time you start OpenOlat, the login page appears, where you log in. You can read more about the different login methods in this chapter.
You can find some information about logout and timeout here.
Registration
Your organisation determines how you get your account:
- Either your organisation creates the account for you and tells you the username.
- Or it allows self-registration. The login page then shows the link "Register here", and you create the account yourself.
Usually the procedure is visible directly on the login page. In the case of uncertainties or queries, contact your organisation, see Who do I contact if none of this helps?.
After successful registration, OpenOlat shows the landing page that your organisation has defined. It can differ between authors and users.
